Pam Williams
Pam comes from a family of artists. One, Hugh Lofting, a great uncle and author of the children’s books, Doctor Dolittle. Also, Morris Meredith Williams, a renowned landscape and WW2 artist. These were her heroes as a child and still an influence today. The passion to explore architecture and the people within and around us has spanned over 40 years. .
After completing a Graphic design degree from Manchester UK in 1975, Pam left England for Greece. Learning Greek, enjoying a love of languages and developing the art of sketching and painting. This was the foundation of her work today. Having lived and worked as an illustrator and artist in Greece, New York and The Far East. Her permanent Studio has been in London since 1990.
The original study and use of watercolour, became the core of collections of work in the 1980s. Over the years, the consistent sketching of people has brought additional movement and life to her images.
When visiting Hong Kong in 1996, her enthusiasm led to ‘a year in Hong Kong’, (March ‘96 to Nov. ’97). Advised by the last Governor, Chris Patten, she was guided by The British Forces with the press, to report events leading up to and during the handover to Chinese sovereignty.
